Striving readers are present in every classroom and supporting them effectively requires a deep understanding of both research and real-world practice. This full-day, interactive session will guide educators through practical, research-aligned approaches to strengthening reading instruction for diverse learners.Participants will analyze case studies based on authentic student profiles to identify specific reading needs and thoughtfully align them with effective strategies and accommodations. This student-centered approach connects research to application—equipping educators with tools to make informed, inclusive instructional decisions that support every reader's growth.

Intended Audience

This training is designed for educators who have attended Reading Between the Lines and/or who have foundational knowledge of reading development and are supporting students with diverse learning needs, including those identified as striving readers.

Participants Will

  1. Identify key components of reading instruction.
  2. Analyze student profiles to identify key reading challenges and strengths.
  3. Match student needs to research-aligned instructional strategies and supports.
  4. Select accommodations that align with individual reading needs.
