Project Areas

Autistic Spectrum Disorders:

These projects are designed to provide technical assistance and training to school personnel working with students with autistic spectrum disorders.

Sample Project Components/Outcomes:

  • Designing Positive Behavior Supports, including the use of visual support strategies
  • Implementation of Evidence-Based Interventions
  • Strategies to Support Social Inclusion
  • Guidelines and Training for One-to-One Assistants

Moderate to Severe Disabilities:

These projects are designed to provide technical assistance and training to school personnel working with students with moderate to severe cognitive disabilities.

Sample Project Components/Outcomes:

  • Use of systematic instruction strategies in the classroom
  • Identifying and teaching functional academic skills
  • Aligning critical functional skills with the core curriculum
  • Providing assistance for classroom behavior management

Transition:

Transition projects are designed to provide technical assistance and training to school districts in developing and implementing transition programs that facilitate the movement from school to post-school activities. Project components can be tailored for students at the middle or high school level.

Sample Project Components/Outcomes:

  • Demonstration of lessons/activities linked to standards
  • Strategies to identify interests/strengths and individual transition needs
  • Development of individual transition planners for each participant
