The Diagnostic Center will provide those families living more than 50 miles from our Center with nearby hotel accommodations at no cost to you or your school district. The Diagnostic Center is only providing lodging to the student and up to two adults who accompany the student to the Diagnostic Center; all other expenses are the responsibility of the parents/guardians. Therefore, we do not pay for your use of the phone, room service, taxis, in room movies, etc. These hotel accommodations are at the Best Western Monterey Park Inn located in Monterey Park, California.

The Best Western Monterey Park Inn is approximately 2.3 miles from the Diagnostic Center and is located at 420 N. Atlantic Blvd., Monterey Park, CA 91754, (626) 289-5090. All rooms feature double queen beds, individualized-controlled heating/air conditioning, mini-refrigerators and complimentary continental breakfast.

Families living within 50 miles or less of the Diagnostic Center are asked to commute daily. The hotel is for use by long distance travelers.

Our Admissions Offices will be notifying you at least a month in advance of your scheduled date of appointment. At this time, arrangements will be made for those parent(s) qualifying for housing at the Best Western Monterey Park Inn. Housing is provided only for the parent(s) and the child to be tested. We do not house extended family members. Once arrangements have been made, and there is a change of the attending parent(s), you are to notify our Admissions Office.

Those families that qualify for hotel accommodations will be provided with breakfast, lunch, and dinner at no charge. Families qualifying for hotel accommodations will be picked up on Monday morning at 7:45 a.m. Please be outside the hotel lobby at 7:45 a.m. Complimentary breakfast will be provided at the hotel and lunch (sample menu) will be provided at our Center. You will be given voucher tickets for dinner at the Souplantation. Also, you will drive your car to dinner at the Souplantation located approximately 2.2 miles from the hotel. Meals are not provided on Sundays. If you wish, you may make your own plans for meals. That is, you may decide to eat at any of the fast food or other restaurants located in our vicinity. If you select this option you are responsible for paying for your meals. The only meals paid for by the Diagnostic Center are as designated.

When do I check in and register at the Best Western Monterey Park Inn?

In most cases our assessment services begin on Monday morning at the Diagnostic Center. Therefore, parents have two options for check-in times at the hotel:

  • 1. You may arrive and check-in at the Best Western Monterey Park Inn on Sunday after 2:00 p.m. We do not provide any meals on Sunday.

  • 2. You may arrive at the Diagnostic Center on Monday morning at 8:00 a.m. If this is your option, you will not check in and register at the Best Western Monterey Park Inn until Monday afternoon. If you decide to arrive Monday morning, you will need to arrive at the Diagnostic Center no later than 8:00 a.m. for an orientation meeting with our Family Services Coordinator.

  • On the last day of assessment, you will need to check out in the morning before you come to the Center.

    Note: Parents may choose to drive themselves in their own private vehicles between the hotel and the Diagnostic Center.

    What if I don't have a car?

    If you were dropped off at the hotel, we will arrange for your dinner.

    What parking arrangements are available at the Diagnostic Center?

    At the Diagnostic Center, ample parking is provided at no charge to you.
